ACTIVITIES

The Howgill Fells are on our doorstep and you do not need to drive at all in order to enjoy good walking amid beautiful Cumbrian scenery. The undulating terrain is more gentle than the central Lake District fells and all levels of fitness are catered for. Additional walking is just a short drive away in the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District.

Nearby towns and villages such as Kirkby Stephen, Sedbergh and Ravenstonedale offer much of interest as well as a wide selection of places to eat.

Golf, horse riding and fishing can be enjoyed nearby as well as cycling, mountain biking and bird watching.

The scenic Settle-Carlisle Railway is just few miles away from Sandbed Cottage. Tickets for round trips between Settle and Carlisle can be purchased on board the train and offer a great day out with wonderful views of spectacular Cumbrian scenery.

Sandbed Cottage provides amazing views and a rural location that combine to ensure our guests will always have fond memories of this very special place and will want to return, time and time again. A wonderful cottage to be enjoyed at any time of the year.

Testimonials

Sandbed Cottage

"There was great attention to detail in the cottage, even a box of necessities for the dogs."
It is a wonderful environment with ducks and hens and ideal for bird watching with feeders filled daily and a gallery to view them from. The owners were knowledgable, kind, helpful but not intrusive.

Sandbed Cottage

"Lovely clean, homely cottage equipped with everything you could possibly need."
Many different birds and the occasional red squirrel right outside your window, thanks to the owners Karen and Steve's feeders. Steve came to our rescue on our last day and changed the wheel of our car after a puncture! Can't praise them enough. 5 stars!

Sandbed Cottage

"Sandbed is an excellent holiday cottage."
It's the most homely place we've ever stayed in and the owners are really nice people and they're knowledgeable and very helpful. Would definitely go again. Easy 5 stars

Sandbed Cottage

"The cottage was lovely, the finish quality was exceptional with no shortcuts that you often see on some holiday cottages."
The owners were most helpful and perfect in the balance of being on hand for advice and not obtrusive. The location is very rural and quiet, allowing wildlife/birds to be easily observed, squirrels, stoat, siskins, and lots of other visitors, the surroundings are picturesque and give a remote feeling although the village is close and shopping location just a short drive away. Perfect.

"Absolutely magical"

This is an incredible property. It is beautiful inside, rustic, warm (we stayed in mid-winter and with the fire lit the lounge was roasting!), clean, everything you could possibly need. On the outside are views of the fells on all sides and walks straight out the front door. If you want somewhere which feels like you're utterly away from it all this is it. I could not fault it in any way - perfect. (PS attention to detail was lovely - we stayed over Christmas and there was a tree, lights, christmas crackers, and a foil turkey roasting tray...
